Happy Birthday Isaiah

Today we celebrated Isaiah's 10th Birthday!
Ten years, a decade ago, my youngest son was born. It seems like just yesterday that we had our big "event". And an event it was. To make a long story short, my labor was almost pain free and less than 2 hours long and I found myself ready to push at home. The local EMT's at the fire department came and took me by ambulance to the birthing center where Isaiah was born 5 minutes after I rolled in the door!

Here is a photo of Isaiah just 12 hours after he was born. We were getting ready to head for home.
Here he is a few months oldAnd here he is today! Same smile!

Change is Coming and it Starts with a Potty

We have this ditch on our property that in the last 2 years has begun washing away with the spring rains. (see this post for example). It has become pretty dangerous and a big attraction to small kids. Our pleas have finally been heard and the county is coming out to make some repairs, adding a new drainage pipe and filling in the ditch with dirt and grass. In the meantime, we have a POTTY in our yard!! Come, take a look....

Isaiah, Logan and some neighbor boys investigate the potty

Logan faking it, hehehe
Isaiah with the traditional shot I take at the red town phone booth...hey maybe we can make my port-a-potty a new photo shoot location! ha ha
The ditch. It doesn't look so bad from this vantage point, but it's really deep at the far end.
A view of the yard caving in and my attempt at showing you how deep it is
The wall is really recessing on our neighbors side
I usually don't let the kids play in the ditch, but I asked Isaiah to go down there to show you how the kids get in and out.
Now you can see about how deep it is. It's about 9 feet deep! Imagine when it's full of fast moving swirling water!
Hellooooo down there!

Trees falling in. The kids climb in and out using these roots.
So while I don't relish the thought of having a potty in my yard, I guess in the long run, it will be worth it!
Awwww, home sweet home!

What to do in 104 degree heat

Ok, so my friend Michelle and I were in Savannah Georgia today. It was a whopping 104 degrees. We had been out in the heat for hours and decided to drive to the Mercer House for a tour. However we got a little distracted trying to stay cool in the car air conditioning. Here, let me show you what we did.....

Vacation Photos - Lots of them!

Last week we traveled to Osage Beach, MO. We stayed at the Lake of the Ozarks. We vacationed here last year and had a great time, so we decided to do it again this year. We took our boat and went skiing and tubing all week as well as some fishing, site-seeing, trying out all the local ice cream shops and skee-ball (Isaiah's favorite evening activity.) I'll share some of my favorite photos, I have some more on Dennis' computer that I'll share later. You might want to go get a Pepsi or your favorite beverage, your slippers and get comfy. There are alot of photos to see!

An insane display of wealth...this is just a teaser of the awesome homes built on the lake. I have lots more on D's compter to share on another post.
A closer view, did you see the waterfalls?!
The boys chose the Ozark Bar-Be-Que resturant for lunch. We just pulled the boat right up and went in for some awesome bbq sandwiches.
Isaiah had bbq ribs
After we ate the boys got some free fish food and went down and fed the carp
The carp were delighted to see the boys coming and rushed to the shore to gobble up the food

Capt' D in the gift shop trying on hats. This one suited him well!

Getting ready to go to dinner. This picture is for my mom. She was with me when I bought this sundress and asked if I wore it on vacation. Yep, mom, I did! I did wear shoes to dinner!
