Welcome December!!

24 Days until Christmas
My shopping is almost complete
My gifts are all wrapped
3 Christmas trees are all trimmed and lit
The stockings are hung by the chimney with care
The Halls have been decked
The Christmas Cards have arrived and are ready to be addressed
The Christmas stamps have been purchased and are ready to go on the cards
24 Days until Christmas!!!

We can't wait.

I'll take lots of pictures this month of our holiday happenings and share them with you all!

Don't forget.....Jesus is the real reason for the season. Take time daily to spend time with Him. If he wasn't born, we wouldn't have a savior!

The Easiest Pumpkin Spice Cookies

These are so easy and soooooo good! You just take a box of spice cake mix and a can of pumpkin. Mix the cake mix according to package directions and then add pumpkin. (I added chocolate chips to half of the batch and wish I would have put them in the whole batch...awesome yumminess!)
Spoon mixture onto a cookie sheet. Bake at package direction heat for about 15 minutes.
Here, take a look!

Spell Bowl

What a great evening we had with Isaiah. As I posted in this blog post, Isaiah tried out for the spell bowl team and made it. The competition was last night. Our school did not place in the top 3 spots in our division, but we were very proud of them and especially of Isaiah. The way Spell Bowl works, is each child on the team gets a turn to sit on stage. They are given 7 words to spell. Their proctor checks each word and the child raises his hand when they spell the word correct. Each correct word is worth a point for the team. Isaiah spelled 4 out of his 7 words correct, earning 4 points for his team. Here are a few photos of the evening.

The back of Isaiah's team shirt.

Studying in the lobby before the competition.

Our school is Sharon Elementary School

Isaiah's turn on stage. He's looking over his shoulder either at us or the team.
Raising his hand with a correct spelling. Good job!Competition over, and a big smile! We're so proud of you Isaiah!!

Big Day for Isaiah

Tomorrow, Thursday November 19th at 5:00 Isaiah will be competing in the Indiana Academic Spell Bowl! 20 kids tried out from his school. Isaiah was one of the 8 kids that consistently scored high on the practice tests, and made the team. He has a list of about 1000 words he's been working hard at studying. He's nervous and excited. We're so proud of him!

Morning mmmmmm...

Last night Dennis came home with a surprise for me. Peppermint Mocha coffee creamer! I know, I live a sheltered life. Most women love getting flowers, I loved getting this coffee creamer! It's only on shelves for the holidays. I love this time of year.

The Mud Bowl

Last Saturday was the last football game of the season. It's called the Castle Bowl, however, this year with all the rain I called it the Mud Bowl. Isaiah still stood on the sidelines. He'd just got his cast off a week before. The field was muddy and all chunky and rutted. There was no way Isaiah was going to risk playing on his freshly healed foot. We start basketball this week, so we didn't want to risk mission out on that season too.
Here's a picture of the boys, mud and all with their trophy's.

Pumpkins & Pizza

The boys carved their pumpkins about a week ago. They had a few friends helping them.

My Halloween candy basket ready for trick-or-treaters

How about a slice of Pizza? Isaiah wanted to be a slice of pizza for Halloween. We went to the craft store and bought craft foam and paint. We painted, cut and hot glued ourselves a delicious slice of pizza. Papa Johns donated the hat/pizza box!
