My Time + Guy Time

Last weekend I had the house all to myself for 3 full days.  I was super busy all weekend, so I really did not have time to put my feet up, drink coffee and read books.  I had to shoot a senior on Friday and a golf scramble on Saturday.  Scrapbooking and dinner with some dear friends, Stephanie and Andrea on Friday as well.  Saturday my Indy friends Mark and Lori and their boys were in town for soccer and took me to dinner at a quaint Newburgh restaurant on the river.  Sunday a double shift at the connection center at church and lots of photo editing and grass cutting.

The guys left on Thursday afternoon after school.  They headed to Northern Michigan to for the annual Minniear Morel Mushroom Hunting Weekend.  Two friends went along, Carlos and Bo.
They were a little early, season wise.  They found plenty of mushrooms, however, they were the blacks and not the yellows that they prefer.  But guy time was fun and they all had a great time.
Here are some photos of them packing up and heading out.

Weekend Wrap-up

Friends+Football+Carwash+Thrifting+Boating= A very busy weekend!

Over the past weekend the Jones and Co came to visit.  Katie arrived Thursday to watch Logan play some football.

One of the random shots I love

Some of the players showing off for the camera

You see the ball Logan, now tackle him!

AWESOME play of the game....See my kid, #60, on the left....
See the tackle on the right...
What you don't see is the ball popping out of his hands and Logan diving onto it...

Fumble Recovery!  Way to go Logan!  He's the one on the ground clutching the ball for dear life. :)

The teams, coaches and ref's look to see if Logan has possession....

He does.  His teammates give him pats on the back.  Well done!

Walking off the field with the biggest grin ever, mouth guard and all.

Friday Katie and I went antiquing.  Did not find much.  But had fun looking.
As usual we tried on Vintage hats.

Friday night we headed on down to Kentucky to our friend Stephanie's house.  She made us some dinner, ok so we ate her leftovers, and then we made some cute cards.  She's a great Stampin' Up rep.  You can see her stampin' site here.

Saturday was Castle Carwash Fundraiser Day.
The day started out gray, but ended up sunny.
The freshmen had the first shift.

This is Logan's buddy.  Not sure who had more soap on them, Nathaniel or the cars!

Logan in action.  He hates when I take his picture, so he avoids me and I sneak in a few shots.

Just one of the photos I took and it's one of my favorites!

Later that day we made our rounds to the Thrift stores and a few garage sales.
I bought this set of dishes for $4! (6 plates, 6 bowls....one of the bowls was in the dishwasher)

Other great buys not pictured:  A Hollister sweater for Evan for $2.50 and a sled for .50 so my kids won't have to use the trash can lids again this winter.
Also some clothes for the niece and nephew for .25 and .50 each piece.  What a bargain!

Later in the day on Saturday, Katie's sister, brother and brother's finance came down to go boating with us.
Here is Isaiah showing everyone how to use the rope swing.
(all these images taken with my cell phone)

Sunday we all went to church and then out to Lunch.
After lunch we all headed down to Isaiah's football game.
I had to work in the concession stand, so I did not get to take any pictures that day.
Maybe Katie has some?  Katie??

Thanks for sharing our weekend wrap up with us.
Did you have a fun filled weekend?
Tell me what you did.

Who Said Life was Fair..

Friday was a big day for Evan. After school he went with his dad to the license branch and got his drivers license!! He passed the test with a 99% - awesome! We're very proud of him. Then, through the night we got hit with a huge winter storm. 6 inches of snow was dumped on us. Unfortunately for Evan it was a little too unsafe to let him drive, so he has a license, but can't use it. Life is not fair.Secondly, get this, the license branch now MAILS you your drivers license! What??? Yeah, he took the test, passed, and got a PAPER with his stats and picture on it. I was so looking forward to taking a picture of him with his new license. Now I have to wait until it comes in the mail! Life is not fair! (he cried)

Saturday morning, we made our kids shovel the driveway and sidewalk instead of sleep in and play video games in the warmth of our home. Life is not fair! (they cried)

Saturday afternoon we went to the gym and worked out. The backs of my arms and stomach muscles are crying out in pain now! It hurts to move. Life is not fair! (I cried)

Finally, as we drove to church Sunday morning, we oooohed and aaawwwed at the beautiful frost that froze and painted the trees and grasses white with ice crystals. The horizon was tinted pink, fading into that beautiful, crisp blue shade you see on a clear winters day. It was 10 degrees outside. The rising sun cast a yellow glow to the frosted landscape. It was truly a beautiful sight to see and I didn't have my camera! No fair!!

I'll leave you with a picture of my girl playing in the snow this morning.

Saturday Chores

Hard work pays off. Over the weekend the boys helped their dad chop, haul and stack wood for warm, cozy fires this fall and winter. We also got the master bath painted, the powder room trim finished and the hole my darling son punched in the wall patched.

We stacked more than this, but I stopped taking pictures.
And here's our reward!
