NRA Youth Day
The boys had a chance to participate in the NRA Youth Day at the local shooting range. This was right down Logan's alley, he is an avid shooter and regularly sets up his own range out in the back yard.
The day was divided into 4 stations; 2 riffle and 2 pistol ranges. They shot clay targets and paper targets, had instructors to teach gun safety and proper technique and were served lunch. Dennis went with them and sent me some photos from his cell phone.

The had a great day and turned out to be pretty good marksmen!

Welcome Fall!
I was downtown the other day waiting for a client to arrive for portraits. Across the street from our meeting place was one of my favorite places to visit in Newburgh. I ran over there real quick and snapped a few photos of the beautiful fall displays. Since my kids are getting older, their not really into pumpkin patches anymore. I know, sad, huh! So this may be the closest I get to a pumpkin patch this year. How about you? Are you going to visit a pumpkin patch this year?

2009 Polar Plunge
This post is guaranteed to give you the shivers! Welcome to the Polar Bear Plunge. My fire department friend Wendy told me she was going to do the Polar Bear Plunge again this year. I marked my calendar and arrived just in time to take pictures. The local fire dept and the local police department have a little costume competition every year. Last year the police won with thier "Pig" costumes. This year the award went to the Fire Department. (the police came dressed as Pigs again this year...gotta step it up guys!) Anyway, here are some highlights of the day!

Firefighter Combat Challenge
On a warm Saturday afternoon more suited for sipping lemonade under a shade tree, scores of sweating firefighters wearing 50 pounds of gear hauled hoses up a five-story tower and dragged a 175-pounder named Rescue Randy. But it was in the name of competition, not rescue. There was no smoke, no sirens and Randy is a weighted mannequin. (from the Evansville courier press)

Men and women from all over the US, including Alaska, came to compete in the Firefighter Challenge today here in Evansville IN. Here are some pics from the day. My neighbor's son was amongst the firemen competing.
